TF11 Intro to Final Cut Express video editing part 5 – adding title, overlaying text and adjusting brightness and contrast

In this, the final part, of our ‘Introduction to video editing with Final Cut Express’ we look at how you add titles, overlay text and how you can use a filter to fix problems with a dark video clip.

This series is aimed at people with no or little experience of video editing with Final Cut Express. The objective is to take a series of clips and turn them into a finished video quickly and efficiently, learning along the way!

hey:

i want to thank a tone for this videos, they have rally helped me out.

it is all perfect exept for one silly problem,
when i press the space bar nothing happens,
any idea how to solve this problem?

    Hi, this is probably because you have not clicked on the timeline first. This is at the top of the sequence window and looks like a ruler. Once you click on this the ‘playhead’ (a vertical line showing where in the video file you will playback from) will appear. Then press the space bar and it should work!

Hello mark,

i’ve tried doing this,
still nothing happens.
it does not matter wether i am in the canvas, the viewer or the timeline, spacebar won’t make things play.

most of the other shortcuts are working, at least the basic ones.
but it really strange that this one isn’t.
and it does work when i am in itunes, adobe bridge, quicktime, etc.

i am working with the final cut express version 4.0.1,
i’ve allready checked the button list and it does say the space bar is the shortcut for play,
still, it is not working!
