StudioTech – Wirecast Series: Part 1 of Building the Ultimate Mac Wirecast System?

If you have read the two postings in the TTFN TV blog you will know that we are building what we think will be the ‘Ultimate’ Mac Pro based system for using Telestream’s Wirecast:

Ultimate Mac Wirecast System blog post 1
Ultimate Mac Wirecast System blog post 2

Wirecast turns your computer into a video capture/mixing/recording/streaming system. This includes the ability to add titles (lower thirds just like on the TV news) and much more.

In this episode, the first of a new series focussing on Wirecast, we discuss the background to our decision to use Wirecast, talk about the Mac Pro hardware for the system and then how to add more than 3 video inputs to a Mac Pro without using Firewire!

The Mac Pro has PCIe expansion slots, so when I refer to PCI in the video I of course mean PCIe!

In the next episode we will look at configuring the Blackmagic Design hardware: two Intensity Pro cards, a Decklink Duo card and the an HDMI to SDI mini converter for use with Wirecast.

Future episodes will look at using Wirecast whether you are just starting with the software or have been using it for a while there will be something for you in this series!
